Thinking of our colleagues and friends in Japan

Dear IREM ® Japan members,

I’m deeply saddened by news of the powerful earthquake in southern Japan. As reports continue to emerge from the affected areas, our thoughts are with everyone whose lives have been disrupted by this disaster, as well as with the families, businesses, and communities facing uncertainty in its aftermath.

For us in the United States, Japan is more than an IREM country. It’s a community of colleagues, friends, volunteers, and leaders who strengthen our organization and advance our profession. At this moment, we’re all thinking of you.

Just weeks ago, I was in Japan with fellow IREM leaders meeting with members, celebrating new CPMs, and witnessing firsthand IREM Japan’s commitment to this organization. The friendships, conversations, and shared sense of purpose from that visit are still fresh in my mind. That’s why today’s news feels especially tragic, and why so many of us around the world are concerned about you and your safety.

The impact of this event extends far beyond damaged buildings and disrupted infrastructure. It touches homes, families, workplaces, and the sense of security every community depends upon. We know many property managers are already helping residents, tenants, owners, and businesses navigate this crisis while facing their own personal challenges. That responsibility can be overwhelming, but you don’t carry it alone.

One of IREM’s greatest strengths is our global community. When a piece of that community is hurting, we all feel it. On behalf of IREM members around the world, we care about your safety, your families, and your communities.

IREM members from every corner of the world are thinking of our friends in Japan. If there’s anything we can do to support local recovery efforts or share information that can help, we urge you to let us know.

日本の同僚や友人のことを想っています

IREM JAPAN会員の皆様、

いつもIREMとIREM JAPANのためにご尽力いただき、誠にありがとうございます。

日本の南部で発生した激しい地震のニュースに深い悲しみを感じています。被災地から次々と情報が相次ぐ中、この災害によって生活に影響を受けたすべての方々、そして余波の中で先行きへの不安に直面されているご家族、企業の皆様、地域社会の方々に心よりお見舞い申し上げます。

米国にいる私たちにとって、日本は単なるIREMの活動国の一つではありません。日本、そしてIREM JAPANは、私たちの組織を強化し、この分野の発展に貢献する同僚、友人、ボランティア、そしてリーダーたちのコミュニティなのです。今、私たちは、日本とIREM JAPANの皆様を想っています。

数週間前、私はIREMのリーダーの仲間と共に日本を訪れ、会員の方々と面会し、新たにCPMの資格を取得された方々をお祝いし、IREM JAPANのこの組織への貢献を目の当たりにしました。この訪問で築いた友情、交わした会話、そして共通の目的意識は、今も私の心に鮮明に残っています。だからこそ、今日のニュースにとりわけ心を痛めており、世界中の多くの人々が皆様の安全を案じているのです。

今回の地震がもたらした影響は、建物の損壊やインフラの寸断といった物理的な被害にとどまりません。それは、人々の住まいや家族、職場、そしてあらゆる地域社会の基盤である安心感にまで及んでいます。多くのプロパティマネージャーの皆様が、ご自身も困難な状況に直面しながら、居住者、テナント、オーナー、そして企業の皆様がこの危機を乗り越えられるよう尽力されていることと思います。その責任はあまりに重いものかもしれませんが、決して一人で背負う必要はありません。

IREMの最大の強みの一つは、グローバルなコミュニティにあります。コミュニティの一員が苦境にあるとき、私たち全員がその痛みを共有します。世界中のIREM会員を代表し、私たちは皆様の安全、そして皆様のご家族や地域社会の無事を心より案じております。

世界中のIREM会員一同、日本の友人たちに思いを寄せております。現地の復旧・復興活動への支援や、お役に立つ情報の共有など、私たちにできることがございましたら、ぜひお知らせください。
